FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MILWAUKEE
(August 2008) — People
throughout the United States will celebrate strong families and
advocate for policies that foster
community connections during National
Family Week, set for Thanksgiving week Nov. 23 – 29, 2008 and organized by
the national nonprofit membership organization, the Alliance for Children
and Families.
Alliance
for Children and Families’ member organizations and partners will again host
local observances during National Family Week and involve families,
residents, area leaders, and policy makers in various activities such as
community forums, resource fairs, volunteer projects, seminars, and awards
programs.
In addition, many Alliance member
organizations will highlight its year-round civic engagement efforts and
mobilize residents and leaders to work for changes that bolster the chances
of success for children, families, and communities.
“When America’s diverse families and
children are healthy, our nation benefits,” said Peter Goldberg, president
and CEO of the Alliance for Children and Families. “That is the reason we
are encouraging everyone to take time during National Family Week to get
involved in ways that support and strengthen families and communities.”
